Fast and Furius Grosses $72.5 Million Opening Weekend

Wow…that’s quite a haul for an opening. OF course anyone that pays attention to such things knows darn well that most of America is obsessed with action movies. They like to see fast cars, hot women sucking down diet pills, and things blowing up, with a few gun fights thrown in between cheesy one-liners. That’s what this franchise is, and that’s why people go see it. Be a movie snob all you want, but most Americans just aren’t, and another action movie blowing up the box office continues to prove it.

I’m not always a fan of action movies. Kind of need to be in the mood for them. Usually I find them to be nothing more than an escape and no thought being needed. Almost all of them are terribly written, but every once in a while you like to see things go fast and explode.

I know darn well that I have thought to myself on many occasions that people are just too stupid to realize these movies suck, but then I remember that most people are pretty stupid anyways and I forget about it. Like I always see people saying how great a movie like Transformers is. That movie is terrible from the story perspective. It had big robots that fight though so people like it. Did I like it? Not particularly, but I watched it to waste some time. That was it’s purpose. It wasn’t winning any awards unless if was for CGI effects.

There are way more people out there that like these movies than those that consider themselves movie snobs so no one should be surprised. Those of you in the minority know exactly what I’m talking about, but those in that minority that obsess about showing elitism in movie viewing need to learn to let it go. If you are smart enough to realize these movies aren’t going to stimulate your thoughts you should be smart enough to have learned a long time ago that there are a lot more people out there that don’t think that way. They like shiny things.
