Tina Fey Wins Emmy for Palin Impersonation/Spoof
Seems as if this “spoof” was 5 years ago now. I guess it was quite distant in the world of entertainment, but we all know that these awards tend to seem well out of date when they are given anyways.
Tina Fey was a big part of the 2008 Presidential Election process, as Saturday Night Live, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and many others in comedy have been very influential in the presidential races over the years. They have become one of the major factors as the major cable news outlets seem less likely to be “Fair and Balanced” than the comedic takes on the process have been. Like watching people play at ping pong tables week to week with how their views change so dramatically to who is in power to try and con audiences.
Enough of that though. This is about Tina Fey winning an Emmy for her portrayal of Sarah Palin this past year.
In winning her award, Fey beat two contenders from her own comedy, 30 Rock, which had led the way with 22 nominations.
However, the show was only named winner of two categories – including best comedy, which it scooped last year too.
As Fey collected her trophy, she made reference to Palin, who resigned in July as governor of Alaska less than a year after she was chosen as vice-presidential contender.
“Mrs Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs Palin.”
