Another Amazing LOST Episode (Happily Ever After)

It appears that a lot of people are rather confused after this episode. While it wasn’t exactly completely straight forward, the show wasn’t really confusing I didn’t think. It just didn’t answer all the questions put forward in typical L O S T fashion I guess.

We got the return of a couple favorites for this episode. Charlie, Desmond, Penny, and of course some Claire which is always nice. Like the title suggests this probably had something to do with Desmond and Penny right? For the most part it did, but this episode was far from a typical love story.

Last episode we saw Desmond waking up on the docks after he was brought back to the island by the infamous Charles Whidmore as our cliffhanger. This week the episode followed Desmond’s story in the off island universe as well as his current on island situation.

We find Whidmore as his island crew messing with a generator, and then a machine that pumps massive amounts of electromagnetic energy into whoever is unlucky enough to be in the tiny room with their machine. Not even Hinkley lights would survive this. Desmond is told that he is there to do something important, but first Whidmore needs to force him into the room to see if he actually can withstand the type of energy needed to do what it is Whidmore has planned.

As soon as the machine kicks on, Desmond is off the island and living in an alternative world in completely different circumstances than we have seen. He is Mr. Whidmore’s right-hand man. Plus he has never met Penny, his true love.

He is tasked with finding and babysitting our good friend Charlie for a concert at some wedding Whidmore’s wife is putting on. IT gets much more difficult to follow from here.

Charlie explains to Desmond his near death experience on the LA X flight earlier in the season and how he saw Claire and knew he loved her. Charlie shows Desmond the same thing by trying to drown him in the ocean (not kill him, but show him what he means), and he sees Charlie in the window holding his hand to the glass. HE flashes towards when Charlie died on the island and sees “Not Penny’s Boat”. If you weren’t sure the two worlds were connected yet, you should by this point.

Desmond then believes that he needs to find Penny for some reason. Whidmore’s wife needs to be told that he couldn’t get Charlie to the event, and she isn’t upset, but she is Eloise (Faraday’s mom from past season) and she cryptically tells him that the needs to stop looking for whatever it is he is looking for.

He leaves and is approached by the MUSICIAN Daniel “Faraday Whidmore (yeah…he’s now a Whidmore) and they start to believe that they had changed something and that they are now in a different universe. Penny is his half sister. Desmond finds her running where he met Jack for the first time and they click. He gets back in the limp and asks his driver to get him the manifest from the 815 Oceanic flight he was on with Jack and everyone else.. He needs to tell them all something.

Desmond wakes up back on the island and is in a daze. He is now calm and wants to help. Sayid snaps a neck and tells him that he needs to come with him. Cliffhanger. L O S T

I am in pain that Lost is over. I can’t believe I am seeing the last show tonight. What are we going to do each week. Josh Holloway is so hot! I am going to miss him. What will J.J. Abrams cook up next?
