Anyone Watch Chuck?

I had never watched this show up until about a month ago when I had finished my marathon watch of the first 5 season of Lost. It left me with nothing to watch while I ate dinner, which is the only time I even watch TV.

So…I needed to find a new show to watch. Chuck was surprisingly fun. I railed off the first couple seasons and then caught up to the show about Episode 4 of Season 3 this year.

I wasn’t real impressed with the start of Season 3. Chuck just seemed like he went into JD from Scrubs mode and started acting really weird to me. IF you ever watched the new version of Scrubs called “Med School” you probably know what I mean. Man that show is awful.

Now the last episode Monday, Chuck really looked different than the whiner and the little wuss. He turned his back on a new friend by doing what a cold hearted spy would do. His first “asset”, which is what Chuck was called by his handlers Casey the bad ass, and Sarah his dream girl.

Sarah has always been fond of Chuck because of his innocence, and never wanted him to be a real spy. She was clearly upset by him doing what he did.

BUT

After watching the first few episodes this season and seeing how lame he was following Sarah around like a puppy dog that just peed on her custom slipcovers, I liked the change. I have been waiting for him to become more of a real spy. It is going to be a fine line though. What made Chuck so great was his humor. Even if he was a bit of a wuss, it played well most of the time except the start of this season.

Looks like dark times a head for our friend Chuck :( . His best friend Morgan and his sister Elle are onto him and his secretive ways. They plan to investigate him so we should get some good laughs out of that at least…lol

  • Dr. Conrad Murray (Michael JAckson’s “Doctor”) Expected To Surrender

Dr. Conrad Murray, the guy that gave The kin gof Pop, Michael Jackson personalized gifts DRUGS, is negotiating a surrender it appears. Dr. Murray is being charged with manslaughter in the death of the pop icon last year.

No case has been filed against Dr. Conrad Murray, but the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office is expected to file an involuntary manslaughter charge and potentially other counts against him this week, said numerous sources familiar with the case.

Murray’s lead attorney, Ed Chernoff, said he and Deputy Dist. Atty. David Walgren were discussing arrangements for booking and arraigning the doctor after the case is filed.

“We both share the goal of the efficient administration of this process,” Chernoff said.

  • Lost Season 6 Opening Episode: LA X

    –SPOILERS ABOUND–

Did you really think that any questions would be answered in the 2 hour opening episode of Lost on Tuesday night? Surely, you were fooling yourself if you were.

Regardless of that, I found the opener to be an epic episode. Probably the best season premier for Lost since the original “Pilot” episode, and better than my grandma’s new Plano porcelain veneers.

So many things going on, and so little answered for most people. We found out that John Locke is truly dead (I know. A bold claim for Lost as it is never certain) and that Fake Locke just may actually be the Smoke Monster. That he took the form of Locke to get Ben to kill Jacob. It opens up an entire new puzzle as to just what the relationship was between Jacob and this mysterious entity.

If you have watched the show from the beginning you will know that the being playing as John Locke now was introduced a few seasons back. HE was what many refer to as the “Man in Black” as he approached Jacob on the beach for a cryptic discussion. Then in the Season 5 finale Jacob said to the Fake Locke that “you have found the loop hole I see”, which gave us the clue tha tit was indeed the same man in blakc from past seasons.

The episode gave a lot of fan service to the dead cast members of Lost as well. An opening segment on the plane once again showing us Boone talking to Locke, as well as Charlie nearly dying in the bathroom before Jack can save his life. Charlie then says to Jack: “I was supposed to die…”

The entire flight and the off-island scenes appear to be some sort of alternative time line to the one that we are seeing with the characters on the island.

Also, with the Season 5 finale showing that Juliet hit the H-Bomb we didn’t know what would happen. It appears that they were shot into another time, and it appears to be either 2004, or 2007.

At this point they all came to the conclusion that what Jack was trying to do (make it so they never came to the island) had failed.

One thing that many have been negative about was that Juliet showed up as alive under the rubble of the Swan station that was never supposed to be built. Sawyer and the group were able to get her out, but she almost immediately died trying to give Sawyer one last comment.

Of course that gives you Miles, the guy that can talk to the dead. Sawyer had him do this to Juliet and claimed that she wanted to tell him “It worked”. Meaning that Jack’s plan possibly worked? We do not know.

Sayid, a fan favorite was still shot obviously, and he was dying. JAcob being killed now appeared to Hugo, who in past episodes we found out could also talk to, and see the dead. Jacob told Hugo to take them all and Sayid to the “temple”, or they would all die.

As they get to the Temple they are met by hostiles, including another mysterious appearance of the stewardess from the original flight. Not only that, but the children from the original crash that were taken away seemed to be with this group again.

Hugo had a guitar case from Jacob that he claimed he carried a crossed the ocean, time, and stuff. The Temple leader opened it and found an artifact that he immediately cracked in half to find a note. Hugo insisted that he be told what it said. They told him: “If Sayid dies we are in big trouble”.

So…they bring Sayid to some pond of life and hold him under water. Way too long. Sayid actually DOES die because they drown him as we watch some sort of hourglass drain.

Then…as the episode concludes Sayid wakes up from the dead. Who is he now? Sayid? Jacob? We MAY find out soon.

Awesome episode overall IMO. Tha t”LA X” is supposed to have a space too, which I have no idea what it means. Maybe the Roman Numeral X=10. Who knows.

  • Ricky Gervais Likes To Make Fun of People

Ricky Gervais isn’t always the most polite guy in the world. He tends to make fun of just about anyone he can. From the religious with his comments about the Bible, to A-List celebrities. He made a promise before the Golden Globe Awards he was hosting Sunday to give the A-listers a bit of a hard time and it appears he didn’t hold back.

Some of his material might have been just a little stale, but he had a few zingers worth note. Of course he pulled out a Mel Gibson DUI jab, which frankly is about as old as you can get. If you ever watch these award shows it is pretty funny seeing how much the presenters, those winning, and the host tend to drive a current even into the ground for a joke. By the time the final hour is underway you probably think that something that was in the news last week happened in 1983. It isn’t funny anymore other than the fact that those using the jokes are still trying to get laughs with them. IT is obvious that they aren’t in the comedy business. They still have plenty of Hollywood and New York jobs anyways so I guess I don’t feel too sorry for any of them.

Anyways, Gervaid went after a few celebs last night and got some mixed reviews.

    Here are a few reactions:

The Associated Press called Gervais “cheeky, silly and funny as heck” for his gentle jabs at the Hollywood glitterati.

“It’s an honour to be here in a room full of what I consider to be the most important people on the planet – actors,” Gervais opened with. “They’re just better than ordinary people, aren’t they?”
Gossip website TMZ and Radar Online also praised the host, calling him “hysterical” and “on fire” with his material.

“Actors aren’t just loved here in Hollywood, they’re loved the world over, because they’re recognisable,” Gervais said.

“You can be in the Third World, and you get a glimpse of a Hollywood star, and it makes you feel better. You can be a little child, a little Asian child, with no possessions, no money – but you see a picture of Angelina Jolie and you think, ‘Mummy!’”.

  • Joke of the Day: La Toya Jackson Thinks She Can Replace Simon Cowell

I don’t know about you, but seeing that La Toya Jackson actually believes she has what it takes to replace the legendary Simon Cowell on American Idol make me laugh like a little girl.

I mean this is LA TOYA JACKSON!. Who itheir right mind beleives she is even entertaining enough to interview, yet watch weekly on anything? Much less one of the most popular shows on television, and replace one of the most notorious TV personalities of all-time? Take an Orlando vacation and seek some help afterwards, lady.

I think TMZ probably gives you the general consensus on this whole fiasco.

  • Scammers Poised to Get Haiti Relief Helpers

What a surprise. People love to take advantage of disasters to make money. While this isn’t anything like having a BS charity like Wycleff Jean has, scammers are working other ways to try and make some quick cash off the Haiti situation.

    According to Fox News:

Charitable Americans eager to help the nation of Haiti recover from Tuesday’s devastating earthquake are being warned to be on the lookout for online scammers.

A number of “text to donate” services have been set up for people to make donations directly from their cell phones. But consumer advocates are warning that, as more are created, some may be phonies. It is hard to tell the difference unlike a tangible product such as natural weight loss products.

According to the Internet Storm Center, both of these “text to” options are legitimate services: “Both short codes in use right now, 501501 and 90999, are tracing back to registered twitter accounts and I consider them authentic at this point,” says the Center’s Johannes B. Ullrich — however, some charity watchdogs have raised doubts about the ability of Jean’s foundation to respond quickly to such an immediate and massive crisis, as well as about some of the foundation’s accounting practices.

Other text-to-donate services may arise, and not all of them will be trustworthy.

“Reports of Haitian ‘text to donate’ scams rising. Only give to orgs you recognize, have researched yourself or are referred by trusted source,” noted All Headline News in a post to Twitter.

The Better Business Bureau has already posted advice on its site for those hoping to donate to a legitimate charity. Art Taylor, president and CEO of the BBB’s Wise Giving Alliance, agrees that scammers tend to spring up in the wake of catastrophe.

“Whenever there is a major natural disaster, be it home or abroad, there are two things you can count on. The first is the generosity of Americans to donate time and money to help victims, and the second is the appearance of poorly run and in some cases fraudulent charities,” Taylor warns.

  • Simon Cowell’s “X Factor” Called Equivelant of “wrestling” By Simon Fuller

IF you don’t know who Simon Fuller is, he is basically considered Cowell’s arch-rival for the month.

Fuller is pissed that Cowell is quitting American Idol after sealing a £100million deal to take the show to the US.

But he insisted that Idol will survive the TV star’s exit because the show has a “boxing-type” purity and is only about talented singers.

“I want Idol to be purely about talent,” stormed Fuller. “We’re not going to be led into the mud, we’re going to stay on our hill.” Too late…way to take the high road, and just nose dive straight into the mud bowl. Maybe you can say how all his guests are fat people and need belly fat reduction next?

But Fuller is known to resent Cowell’s success – and his livewire personality. “Fuller has got brains and instinct but has the personality of a wet weekend in Hastings,” said an insider, adding: “Cowell has the lot.”

Cowell has been nothing but complimentary of everyone still connected with American Idol. He released a statement saying how much he enjoyed his time on the show and wished them every success.

The source added: “This could get very messy.” Team Cowell last night refused to comment. A US telly source added: “It seems Mr Fuller has a lot of issues which he needs to work through.” US X Factor debuts in 2011 with Cowell as a judge and Cheryl Cole his probable sidekick.

  • More Avatar Box Office Records

On the heels of a couple Golden Globe Awards, it is only natural to keep pounding Avatar into the ground.

Already streaking to well over $1 Billion in worldwide box office sales, Avatar has actually remained on top of the box office charts for an astounding 5th straight week with $41.3 Million in sales for the week. IF you pay attention to this stuff at all, that isn’t a very common occurrence. It really isn’t even that common to see a movie on top for more than a week usually with so many new movies coming every week.

Denzel Washington’s “Book of Eli” settled for the #2 spot for the weekend, opening with $31.6 million. It is a post-apocalyptic tale, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind and probably finding amazing ways of rheumatoid arthritis relief.

At #3 was Peter Jackson’s “The Lovely Bones”, earning $17.1 million after expanding nationwide in its sixth weekend showing.

Avatar now has box office receipts of $491 Million in the U.S. placing it 3rd all time behind The Dark Knight ($533 Mil), and Titanic (Another Russel Crowe film that ended at $600.8 Mil). It passed Star Wars to slide into the top 3.

Avatar has amassed $1.606 Billion globally and will surely overtake Titanic’s $1.842 Billion worldwide tally within two weeks to become the highest grossing release in history (unadjusted for inflation).

  • Avatar Movie Wins Big At Golden Globes

Ahh yes…movies that make a lot of money, but aren’t always seen as a “great” movie tend to win awards. It is not even a question anymore. Don’t get me wrong here…I am not saying that Avatar is a terrible movie or anything, but is it really deserving of some of the awards it won at the Golden Globes? Are these awards giving awards based on box office, or are they for the movie itself?

Avatar picked up two of the biggest Golden Globes last night. Best director for Cameron Crowe, as well as the most prestigious of them all, Best Movie Drama. That will get rid of blackhead pretty quickly.

Cameron won the same Golden Globe statuettes — and swept the Academy Awards — with his last feature film, 1997’s “Titanic,” whose worldwide gross of $1.85 billion could soon be eclipsed by “Avatar,” which has sold more than $1.6 billion in tickets around the world and shows scarce signs of slowing.

Cameron spent nearly five years making “Avatar,” employing a new filming system (that married human performances and computer-generated imagery) and more than a thousand visual effects artists to craft a distant moon inhabited by 10-foot-tall azure aliens. Cameron thanked the people who worked endless hours on “Avatar” for creating “every blade of grass and every creature in it” and producer Jon Landau singled out 20th Century Fox for “believing in blue people.”

With its box-office thrust and Golden Globes, “Avatar” heads into the final week of Oscar balloting (nomination votes are due Saturday) with more momentum than any of last year’s awards-jostling releases.

  • Wyclef Jean’s Haiti Foundation a Bit Shady?

If you have ever seriously thought abut celebrity charities for even a minute you probably already get what I am about to tell you. Celebrity charities are useless.

Don’t take that the wrong way. Celebrities ENDORSING a charity, and helping to raise money fro a charity are great. They can do much more than the average person to spread awareness, and convince more people to give than most.

What the biggest problem underlying these charities always seems to be is that they WASTE a ton of the the donations on needless expenses. Think about this for a minute. Why does a celebrity need their own charity to fight cancer? They don’t. They can just support an already formed cancer charity for a huge savings in administrative expenses. There are already charities set up for the same purpose. Why do they need another one for the same cause? They DO NOT.

What happens when a celeb stars a charity is that they get some financial benefits themselves for having their name on it. They can funnel money through ti to escape taxes, skim money out of it for extra tax free cash, and in the end piss away almost all of the money taken in to administrative fees.

Wyclef Jean is a prime example of this, and why using established charities already should be the way things are done. Wyclef Jean’s Haiti Foundation has come under scrutiny this week for this very reason. The charity is scamming, and wasting all of the donations it gets. Wyclef is gonna need the best under eye cream soon after someone gives him a black eye.

Undoubtedly, Jean’s celebrity helped draw in donors: He’s an internationally known musician from Haiti who won a Grammy with the Fugees and went on to a hugely successful solo career. But an analysis of the charity’s tax returns raises questions about how it has spent money in the past, with administrative expenses that appear to be higher than comparable charities and payments to businesses owned by the musician and a board member, including $100,000 for a performance by Jean at a 2006 benefit concert.

“It seems clear that a significant amount of the monies that this charity raises go for costs other than providing benefits to Haitians in need,” said Dean Zerbe, national managing director of Alliant Group, a tax services company, and the former tax counsel to the Senate Finance Committee, which oversees charities.

“It brings real caution for donors that want to help in Haiti that they might want to take a harder look at this organization but also consider the significant number of charities that have been doing good work in Haiti that don’t have these question marks,” Zerbe said
